In-Scope Activities 

 

  • Database Readiness Assessment: Identify dependencies, risks, and optimization opportunities. 
  • Migration Strategy Development: Define migration patterns (homogeneous vs. heterogeneous), AWS service selection, and architecture. 
  • Schema & Data Migration Planning: Utilize AWS DMS and SCT for schema conversion and data transfer. 
  • Proof-of-Value Validation: Validate AWS performance and define risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Performance & Cost Optimization: Apply AWS best practices for right-sizing and query tuning. 
  • Security & Compliance Assurance: Ensure regulatory adherence with built-in security controls. 
  • Enablement & Training: Deliver AWS best practices knowledge transfer and post-migration guidance. 

Out of Scope 

 

  • Full-Scale Production Migration: The engagement is limited to assessment, planning, and proof-of-value validation. 
  • Deep Application Refactoring: Rearchitecting applications for microservices, serverless, or containers is beyond the scope. 
  • Immediate Real-Time Cutover: Production system cutover without phased validation is not included. 
  • Custom Development: No extensive software development beyond migration activities. 
  • Third-Party Software Migrations: ERP systems and applications requiring complex integrations are excluded. 
  • On-Premises Infrastructure Changes: No decommissioning of hardware, networking, or infrastructure modifications. 
  • Ongoing Database Management & Support: Managed services and long-term database operations are not part of this engagement.

Assumptions 

 

  • Pre-Defined Use Case: A mutually agreed database migration scope will be identified before the engagement begins. 
  • Customer Resource Availability: Key stakeholders, database administrators, and technical teams will be available for collaboration. 
  • Access to Database Environments: Customers will provide secure access to required environments for assessment and PoV execution. 
  • Non-Production Testing: Migration testing and validation will be conducted in non-production environments to minimize risks. 
  • Limited to Advisory & Enablement: The engagement focuses on strategy, planning, and enablement, not full-scale production migration. 
  • Existing AWS Infrastructure: Customers will have or provision AWS accounts and IAM roles for migration activities.
